We're changing our chat platform. This is a change that was long coming; our previous chat solution was at times buggy and didn't offer the reliability that you would expect from a social app. This, along with a change in circumstances surrounding our previous provider, pushed us to implement a more stable and reliable chat platform created by a partner we're very excited to work with: Stream.

What is Stream?

Stream is a young company based in the Netherlands and Colorado (US) that we love and trust. Their chat solution provides Feeld with the infrastructure to offer you a stable and reliable chat platform so you can communicate with your Connections without having to resort to third-party apps, and also allows us to build new features, so stay tuned. What does this change mean for me?

The first change you will notice is a faster and more reliable chat experience. While we cannot guarantee you will not encounter bugs every once in a while (and if you do, please contact our Support team by using the chat icon in the lower right-hand corner of this screen!), you should experience fewer issues when chatting to your connections.

The migration to Stream also allows us to implement the following changes that are now available:

  • You can now resend failed messages.
  • You can now see when your connections are typing in your open conversations.
  • If you have an active Majestic Membership, you can see when the member you last spoke to was last online on the active conversation, and whether they're online now.
  • We've made the chat indicators more accurate and clearer, and now they read sending, delivered and read.
  • We added system messages when a member starts, joins or leaves a chat.

Finally, our new provider has a strong focus on security and privacy, so we can continuously make the Feeld experience as safe as we can, as well as building new features.

❗️Please note that, as with any big change, there will likely be a teething period where things might not work exactly as intended, but we'll update the app periodically to fix these errors that may arise.

Will I lose my chats?

We're migrating all chats to Stream, so you shouldn't lose any of your previous active chats. If you're not seeing one or all of your active chats, and you or your Connection haven't previously disconnected, please contact our Support team so we can have a look.

Do I need to do anything?

If you have updated Feeld to the latest version available in the App Store or Google Play Store, you don't need to do anything, as the migration happens 'behind the scenes'. However, if you haven't upgraded yet, please do so as older versions (including V4 for iOS and V2 for Android) will no longer be supported for security reasons. Please note that if your device cannot upgrade to the current version of Feeld (V5), you will have to use a different device.
