We want everyone to use Feeld without worrying about privacy. That’s why we’ve built Screenshot Protection into Feeld chats. This article outlines how it works.
Important
-
Screenshot Protection is free for all Members. If you're on the latest version of the Feeld app, you already have Screenshot Protection enabled.
-
We can only protect against screenshots from content shared within the Feeld app. Read about things to consider when you’re asked to move the conversation to a different app.
-
For your safety and that of our team, you can no longer include chat screenshots when reporting offensive behavior. However, we encourage you to report the interaction to our Support team providing as much context as possible. We'll be happy to help and take swift action against the offender.
- At this time, Screenshot Protection does not prevent taking screenshots of short videos sent in chats.
Screenshot Protection Explained
While most screenshots are not taken maliciously, a breach of privacy can happen if sensitive images between you and other Members fall into the wrong hands.
A malicious actor may take a screenshot and share it on other websites and social media without your consent. Someone could even threaten to share it with your friends and family if you don't pay a ransom.
Screenshot Protection protects your Feeld chat photos (and messages on Android) that you send to other Feeld members from being screenshotted.
Important: At this time, Screenshot Protection does not prevent taking screenshots of short videos sent in chats.
How Screenshot Protection works
Screenshot Protection works a bit differently on Android versus iOS devices.
Android:
On Android devices, Screenshot Protection blocks screenshots from chats altogether, including images and text. Depending on the device and Android version, trying to take a screenshot or screen recording will result in either an error message or a fully black screenshot.
iOS:
On iOS devices, it is possible to take screenshots and screen recordings from a chat. However, Screenshot Protection will hide any images in the chat, but not the messages themselves. A screenshot taken in iOS will look like this:
